People can download the app for free on Android phones. As of April of 2017, more than two million Indians are using the app to make payments every day.
Merchants, shopkeepers, and taxis can accept payment from BHIM app users. All you need to start is your bank account information and Virtual Payment Address (VPA). Your bank can help you to set up a VPA free of cost if you do not have one. You can post the code near your shop
or in your taxi to accept payment. If you do not have a printer nearby, we can even send you a printed code to paste in your shop. When a user scans the QR code, money from your customer’s bank account will go to your bank account directly. Based on your bank, you might get an SMS saying you received money. BHIM does not deduct any commissions or transaction fees. So, if you charge Rs 100.00 your account will receive Rs 100.00.
