Legoland Discovery Center in Chicago is an indoor family entertainment center located in The Streets of Woodfield shopping center in Schaumburg, Illinois. The attraction includes LEGO-theme rides, a soft play area, a 4D cinema and a gift shop. The 30,000-square-foot center features hands-on brick-building activities, a dragon ride, an exhibit room with displays of models made by LEGO master builders, and a 4D movie with special effects. For the youngest visitors, there will be a Duplo play area. Miniland Chicago showcases intricate LEGO models of famous Chicago landmarks. Highlights include the Willis Tower, Navy Pier, Buckingham Fountain and the Wrigley Building.
In an effort to further educate and entertain adults and children alike, iPad stations featuring information and fun facts will be installed just outside the display. Miniland Chicago will be broken up into three sections, each iPad will display a separate interactive map to correspond with each section (approximately ten LEGO buildings to a map/iPad station).
Children and adults alike will engage with these interactive maps. Users will touch the screen to select individual LEGO buildings to find out exactly how many hours and/or LEGO bricks it took to create the model, along with any other miscellaneous facts.
The platform educates and entertains visitors and LEGO enthusiasts of all ages by adding another interactive element to the Miniland Chicago experience. This project is constructed to run specifically within the iOS environment.
